Features:

Here you'll find some nifty features implemented in Gnupiter.

"Answer" highlighting

This is a feature I learned to love during my time as point in the fidonet:
The answers of different people are differently coloured. In a message with many different answer snippets, this feature can enhace readibility. Currently only ">" is recognized as "answer-mark". I think this is a quasi standard and other funny characters as "|" or ":" are quite rare. In the future the characters recognized as "answer-mark" will be configurable by the user. So you can choose yourself, which characters you want to act as "answer-mark" and which not.

Smart formatting

Another nice feature is the smart linebreaking. I often get mails with lines of text without a linebreak. Every email client, I used till today, breaks the lines at, say, the text-widget-edge without thinking about answer snippets. This can render a mail with many different, mixed answer snippets nearly unreadable. The smart linebreaking formats -- well, actually tries to format ;-) -- a message with respect to the paragraphs. It tries to maintain the answer level of paragraph by inserting or deleting "answer-marks" where necessary. In combination with the highlighting-feature, this increases the readability of most messages. The number of characters in a line is configurable and maybe sometime dynamically changing with the window size.
